friday five: recent stuff. plus some thoughts!

post from here!

1. What was the last book you read (or are currently reading)?
a cabeça do santo (the head of the saint)! I'm technically currently reading the dispossessed but so very slowly... need a lot of brainpower for this one.

2. What was the last movie you watched?
send help (2026). I thought I'd love it but actually hated it lol before that I watched no other choice (2025) and LOVED it. a year of extremes for me so far.

3. What television series are you currently watching?
nothing! I'm trying a kdrama but have only seen 1 episode, let's see how this goes.

4. What are some of your favorite blogs or communities online?
[community profile] paradisediner! not many places I visit frequently aside from my small circle of old fandom friends.

5. What social media do you belong to and check often?
I'm camping on bsky most of the time! but I do check twitter a lot too, while the tbz fandom is there I'm stuck in that hellhole... let's #LEAVE that place, please.

all the news in kpop right now sound crazy, but I'm still gobsmacked that 100 just went from 100 (pun not intended) to 0 in such a short time. back in 2024, I discussed with friends how fun it would be if tbz joined the big company that had exo, viviz, and taemin, because surely, that company was going places! like, it's just unthinkable how it all went down the drain, just like that... they could've been huge?!?!

my personal opinion is that two (three, four, five...) things can be true at once. 100 had stupid, incompetent businesspeople as ceos, yes, but I'm willing to believe there's been a lot of media play and strings pulled behind the scenes to get things to this point too. I'd bet money that sm had a lot to do with it, because everything that went down with exo was foul, and imo sm is the sole guilty party in it. and truly, what went down with tbz was just unbelievable. hybe, were you involved? be honest. hybe, don't lie. hybe, come here, stop running and answer me -

last june fucked things up royally for tbz, and I'm sure 100 felt it in their pockets too because tbz lost not only (a HUGE NUMBER of) fans but contracts and probably investment too; I'm not surprised they had to cancel stops for the blaze. they were likely bleeding money at that point and the tour was planned for a demand that didn't exist anymore, so I'd understand if tbz's books were kinda screwed up. but nothing justifies the way 100 handled them or the other artists for the second half of 2025. I'm glad most of them are out, now I can only hope chanhee is next, as soon as he can... :( and I wish all the best to the badvillain girls - no idea how they can get out of there without a disband, but I'll keep my hopes up for them!

(lastly, and just as a side note, I'm a little confused why the fandom seems to still be expecting anything in terms of official content...? does everyone realize they left 100 and are doing things independently, like fromm, juyeon's schedule in paris, eric's schedule in LA, the concert practices...? lol)
