2026 fic intentions meme
reading a feel-good fic reminded me that there's lots of comfort and happiness to be found in fic where boyz are kissing... this is me trying to kickstart my creative drive for this year. I haven't been writing anything, I've just been daydreaming scenes and plots, as one does. but boyz kissing is so healing, maybe I should think about it some more...

1. Do you have a word-count goal for 2026?

getyourwordsout so yes, 75k words. I'm at 28% with 21k.
2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc?
nothing planned aside from gywo but who knows! maybe this is the year I finally join kinktober...
3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom in 2026? Which one?
not really... unless yellowjackets s4 really rocks my boat or iwtv s3 pushes me through my fear of not doing these characters justice. (I know that's a silly worry!! but I really don't think I have the mental bandwith right now to do a louis, armand, or lestat pov lol)
4. Do you think you’ll stop writing for a fandom in 2026? Which one?
nope.
5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet?
the jusunric... no snippet because I already posted it for the wip marathon last year lol but man, every couple days I'm like "oh I should go back to that wip, that scene or that part would be so fun to write" and then I never do. but if I'm finishing anything long-ish this year, it's likely that. we'll see!
6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?
THE SANGNYU. I'm still being haunted by sangnyu thoughts.
7. Will you change anything about the way you interact with other writers?
just gonna think twice about commenting/interacting with fic in the tbz tag since apparently there's a handful of people who actively dislike me so I'll make sure we don't cross paths again lol
8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is 2026 the year?
many such cases... I don't think this will be the year, unfortunately...
9. Short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in the next month?
absolutely nothing! LOL I've been having a busy month and don't think april will be any less busy. any writing will have to either wait or go at a very, very slow pace...
10. Will you keep a record of all the fics you write and/or post this year?
I always do, mostly because I don't post all that much? so it's easy to keep track of things.
11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes in 2026?
probably not but if I do, it will most likely be omegaverse? I miss writing in first person pov too.
12. Will you change anything about the way you edit or rewrite in 2026?
nope! it works just fine right now.
13. Aside from fanfic, are there any other fan works you’d like to try creating? Fanart, or fanvids, gifsets, or podfic?
I'd love, love, love to do fanart... I just need to find the energy to practice drawing, and as of now, I'm running on low energy mode 24/7 lol
14. Have you ever lost large chunks of your work in the past, due to not backing up your work? Will you change your methods in 2026?
hmmm, I don't think so? I would've lost stuff when we migrated out of lj but I thiiiink I had already deleted everything before I moved, so... I've been downloading files these days, so whether I'm using gdocs or ellipsus, I have copies on my hard drives as well, just in case. everything goes down or turns to AI, so I'm not taking any chances.
15. Do you foresee any personal or professional obstacles in 2026, that would keep you from creating fanworks?
I don't foresee anything, I'm LIVING through it lol work has been keeping me busy and stressed since february, I haven't had much time nor energy to do creative things. it may get even busier later in the year... that's why I'm being chill and not setting any major goals aside from the wordcount.
16. Do you have that one fanfic that you wrote a ton for, ages ago, but never posted? Will this be the year, come hell or high water, that it WILL get finished and posted?
oh, I have a handful of long-ish old drafts. I don't think any of them are seeing the light of day this year, though? some of the them will probably never get posted, unless I do the wip graveyard thing and just post unfinished stuff.
17. Do you typically answer all comments/reviews individually? Do you plan to change the way you interact with your readers this year?
I used to reply to all comments, then anxiety got the best of me and I stopped for a while, but this year I'm committed to trying to be more on top of it!
18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method?
I finish it all first. the mere thought of leaving people hanging because I couldn't finish something on time/lost the drive would eat me up, I'm too anxious for that lol I've wondered a few times if I should try my hand at posting chapter by chapter, even if I finish everything first, but idk...
19. Would you consider non-fandom writing events, like NaNoWriMo or writing contests?
whenever something comes up I take a look but I never feel like joining anything aside from fic fests. the commitment is an issue to a professional pantser with an irregular writing scheduler like me.
20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year?
I've been wanting to, yes! but time, energy, motivation are all on an all-time low so idk when that's gonna happen. it's mostly to challenge myself, since I've always been a fic person and prefer to play with someone else's toys, so I wanna see if I can commit to an original universe and stick to it or if I'll get bored/run out of ideas quickly lol
