“Hyung?”

Kevin is still staring at the ceiling, willing his heart rate to go back to normal. He looks to the side, and thinks he can see Sunwoo looking at him from across the room, even though all the lights are out and he’s no more than a silhouette in the dark.

“Did I wake you? Sorry.” Kevin wonders if he made any sound waking up from the horrors of his nightmare. Not screaming, because he usually hears himself when that happens, but he might’ve been talking in his sleep.

“Wasn’t sleeping,” Sunwoo says. There’s the rustling of sheets, and then Sunwoo is a shadow walking towards him. He nudges Kevin’s knee when he gets to his bed. “Scoot.”

Kevin shuffles to the side automatically, not quite following the logic here but not questioning, either. Sunwoo lies down next to him and gets comfortable underneath the covers, on his side and facing Kevin.

“Get some sleep.”

“I don’t think I can, honestly.”

“Then just rest your eyes,” Sunwoo mumbles, eyes already closing.

It’s hard to argue with him as a rule, but it’s especially hard when he’s this unguarded, this vulnerable, sleep stripping him of all the defensive walls he puts up during the day. Like this, he looks—and sounds—much more like the Sunwoo Kevin met all those years ago.

And it’s that thought more than anything that gets Kevin to relax. He doesn’t know if he’s just easily impressed, or if Sunwoo’s idea of sharing a bed really does have some merit, but he manages to doze off after a while. It’s a fitful sleep, but it’s sleep, and more than what Kevin was counting on.

When the alarm goes off in the morning, Kevin finds himself on his back, with Sunwoo curled against him, cheek pressed against Kevin’s shoulder. And it’s only then, watching Sunwoo’s face and the bags under his eyes, that it occurs to Kevin that maybe he wasn’t the only one having trouble sleeping last night.

Smiling, he hits the snooze button on his phone and snuggles closer to Sunwoo, closing his eyes again.
